Solid Surface for hotels and contract in Mallorca
A contract project has nothing in common with a private kitchen. Design is not what governs it — the calendar is. There is an opening date, there are rooms that cannot stay out of service longer than planned, and there is a management team that needs to know exactly which day each floor is handed back. We have spent years fabricating and installing continuous surface for hotels, clinics, restaurants and retail across the Balearics, and what Solid Surface brings to this field is very specific: it is repaired rather than replaced, it has no joint for dirt to collect in, and the same exact colour can be reproduced across a hundred rooms — and again in three years' time, when the next floor comes round.

Guest rooms: the same piece, a hundred times over
- Bedside tables, shelves and headboards in one continuous piece, identical room to room.
- Minibar and coffee station tops that take heat and staining.
- Exact colour matching years later, for refurbishment in phases.
- Installation planned floor by floor, without closing the whole hotel.
- Knocks repaired in place, without removing the piece or closing the room.
The photograph shows a bedroom with the bedside tables resolved in continuous surface, fixed to the wall and without legs. In a hotel room that is not an aesthetic whim: the floor is mopped daily and anything standing on it deteriorates sooner. Hanging the piece extends its life and speeds up housekeeping.
The advantage that shows most in operation is repairability. A suitcase catching an edge does not mean replacing the furniture: it is sanded, polished, and the room is back in service the same day. In a property running at high occupancy, that translates directly into nights that are not lost.

Bathrooms: where the material earns its keep
- Tops with the basins formed into the same piece, with no rim and no silicone.
- Shower trays cut to the exact opening, with the fall built into the material.
- Wet-area lining with none of the grout lines tiling leaves.
- Non-porous surface, with no pore for limescale or mould to take hold in.
- Long runs with several basins for shared bathrooms and changing rooms.
The bathroom is where a hotel ages first and fastest. The silicone bead around the basin yellows, the grout darkens, and within three years the bathroom looks tired even though everything still works. With no joint, there is none of that to maintain.
The image shows a continuous top with two integrated basins and a closed front. It is a single piece: there is no meeting of materials, so cleaning is a cloth run from one end to the other. For a housekeeping team repeating that operation dozens of times a day, the time difference is real.

Food and beverage: bars, buffets and terraces
- Backlit counters, with the light housed inside the volume itself.
- Curved buffet fronts, thermoformed with no joint and no sharp corner.
- Service tops with an integrated bowl for quick rinsing.
- Terrace pieces in references rated for weather and salt air.
- Finishes that take lemon, red wine and coffee without being marked.
In hospitality the enemy is not use, it is acidity. Citrus, dark soft drinks and wine land on the bar every night and stay there until closing. On a porous surface that ends as a permanent stain; here nothing penetrates, and whatever does mark is recovered by polishing.
The bar in the photograph is lit from within. Worked in thin sections, Solid Surface lets light through, so the furniture becomes the lighting of the terrace. It resolves atmosphere and signage of the service point without installing a single extra fitting.

Clinics and healthcare spaces
- Tops and basins in one piece, with no groove for residue to collect in.
- Treatment room furniture with rounded edges and washable fronts.
- Non-porous surface, compatible with standard disinfection protocols.
- Reception and admissions desks with a continuous front.
- Finish restored by sanding, without replacing the unit.
In a healthcare setting the demand shifts from appearance to hygiene. What matters is that there is not one point cleaning cannot reach: not the rim of a bowl, not where the top meets the wall, not the join between two sheets.
The image is a dental clinic, with the wash unit resolved as a single piece and a tall tap. It is the same criterion applied in operating theatres and laboratories, and the reason this material has been specified in the sector for decades.

Receptions, lobbies and common areas
- Reception desks with top and front formed as the same piece.
- Cantilevered benches and shelves, wall-fixed with no visible support.
- Perforated screens and dividers, machined to the project's pattern.
- Wall linings and reveals to unify the whole lobby.
- Working directly with the architecture practice from the detail stage.
The photograph shows a reception desk resolved as a single volume: the vertical front and the top are the same piece, with no joint, no metal edge and no plinth. On the left, the working area steps down with its integrated cable port.
A reception desk takes more punishment than anything else in a lobby: trolleys, suitcases, rings and elbows, every single day. That is why it matters that the edge can be recovered by polishing rather than replacing the whole piece after three years.

Marine and charter
- Galley tops and service areas, light and seamless.
- Pieces made to the exact measure of an irregular space.
- Rounded edges, considered for a surface that moves.
- Repairs carried out on board without dismantling the unit.
- Coordination with the yard or the refit team.
On a boat no two openings are the same and no wall is straight, so catalogue furniture simply does not fit. Everything is fabricated from a template taken on board.
Weight matters, and the material allows contained thicknesses built over an internal structure. Added to that, the surface does not absorb moisture — decisive in an enclosed space with permanent salt air.

We make it ourselves
- Our own workshop: cutting, routing, thermoforming and polishing under one roof.
- No middlemen between the drawing and the installed piece.
- Our own installation team, with no subcontracted fitting.
- Finish checked piece by piece before anything leaves the workshop.
- Later repairs carried out by the same team that made the piece.
The photograph is of our workshop: a worktop on the extraction bench being hand-sanded with an orbital sander connected to the vacuum. Behind it, the CNC router and sheets stored on edge in A-frames.
We mention it because it shows in the result: the people who measure, fabricate and install are the same people. When something does not fit on site it is resolved there and then, without opening a file between three companies.
How we run a contract project
We start with a technical survey to take real measurements and see the access routes, because that determines how we split the pieces. From there you receive a fixed quotation and an installation calendar built around your dates, not ours. We fabricate in our own workshop and install with our own team, without subcontracting the fitting. We work with architects, interior designers, main contractors and hotel management across Mallorca, and we accept contract commissions off the island when the project justifies it.
Frequently asked questions
- How much does a contract project cost?
- We do not publish prices, and it is not evasiveness: there is no rate card. Every project is made for specific openings and the cost depends on the actual linear metres, the type and colour of sheet, the number of bowls and cut-outs, the edge detail, the workshop hours the shape demands and the difficulty of the installation. Two hotels with the same room count can come out at different figures. That is why we measure first and give a fixed quotation, which is the only number you can decide on.
- Can you refurbish without closing the hotel?
- Yes, that is the norm. We plan floor by floor or in blocks of rooms, fabricate in advance so installation is as short as possible, and agree with management what is handed back each day.
- Can the same colour be matched again years later?
- Yes, provided a stable catalogue reference is chosen at the outset. It is one of the reasons chains specify this material: it allows phased refurbishment with no visible step between old and new.
- What happens when a piece is damaged in service?
- It is repaired in place. The affected area is sanded and polished and the surface is uniform again, without removing or replacing the unit. That is the main difference from laminate or stone.
- Do you work from the architect's drawings?
- Yes, that is standard in contract. We come in at the detail stage to resolve junctions, fixings and the splitting of pieces before the drawing reaches site.
- How much lead time do you need before an opening?
- It depends on volume, but for a multi-room project you should be talking in months, not weeks. Fabrication can be brought forward almost entirely; what cannot be compressed is installation on site.
